Woman killed by madman at whit

The woman who was killed when a madman rammed his car into a crowd of counter-protesters at the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia has been identified by friends and relatives as Heather Heyer.

Heyer, 32, was the lone person killed in the Saturday afternoon attack, when James Alex Fields, Jr. 20, plowed his silver Dodge Challenger through the masses gathered at Emancipation Park in opposition to the rally.

She was a paralegal at the Miller Law Group in Charlottesville, where she worked in the bankruptcy department, according to the firm’s website.

Heyer’s friend Felicia Venita Correa set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for her family, and contributors have already raised $41,140 of the $50,000 goal.

“[Heyer’s] mother (whom I will not name until she is ready) said, ‘She died doing what was right. My heart is broken, but I am forever proud of her,'” Correa posted on the page.

Heyer was a native of Greene County, Va. and graduated from William Monroe High School in Stanardsville, Correa wrote.

Her Facebook cover photo, posted about a week after the 2016 presidential election, said, “If you’re not outraged, you’re not paying attention.”

She was one of 20 people hurt when Fields’ Challenger suddenly sped up from a complete stop, ramming into the protesters and sending bodies flying. Five were critically injured, officials said.

Fields has been charged with murder.
