A member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense, Irina Friz, sent an appeal to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Oleksandr Turchinov, with proposals to minimize threats of Russian subversive activities against Ukraine from the self-declared Pridnestrovian Moldovian Republic (PMR), as she indicated on her Facebook page.
"We must pay attention to the appearance of materials that refer to plans for an offensive operation in the southern part of the Odessa region, including a landing operation by Russian troops with the purpose of organizing a "corridor" to the PMR," she wrote.
The Member of Parliament underlined that this situation in the southwest requires decisive political and diplomatic actions from Ukraine.
"That’s why I am sending the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksandr Turchynov, an appeal with proposals to minimize the threats of Russian subversive activities against Ukraine from the PMR, as well as demand the return of Tiraspol to fulfill obligations under the peace agreement," Friz noted.
She added that lately the PMR has given "unhealthy signals that indicate their actual exit from the peace agreement and reflect another vision on the subject of international obligations regarding the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict."
“After the ‘authorities’ of the PMR raised the question of using the Russian Federation flag as the state one, the so-called prime minister of the PMR, Alexander Martynov, announced Tiraspol's intentions to legitimize the judicial institution of the RF in the PMR," the MP stated.
"Thus, we are witnessing the gradual steps by the PMR to the joining with the Russian Federation under the Kremlin's tacit consent. As everyone understands, there are no PMR state institutions and there is a puppet leadership of the unrecognized separatist territory. Tiraspol's policy shows the continued violation of international agreements by Russia," Friz concluded.
